Makran-Development plans

The Makran Coasts: A Gateway to Economic Development

Encircled by the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf, the Makran region awaits attention. It presents a secure location for investment and planning in agriculture, energy, power, petrochemicals, and tourism. This development program should encompass all aspects, both overt and covert, and should aim to promote regional growth rather than destruction. It should foster economic growth while simultaneously protecting the environment, not delaying or postponing either.

According to Article 68 of the Permanent Law of Development Programs of the Country and the Development Document of the Makran Coastal Region, the region includes the Minab, Sirik, and Jask counties in Hormozgan Province and the Konarak and Chabahar counties in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. The development of this region was emphasized as a central issue in Article 2 of the Sixth Development Program of the Country. The formation of the Makran Coasts Development Council was approved in a cabinet meeting on July 21, 2019, with the aim of strategically developing these coasts.
